APC Shifts NEC Meeting to Presidential Villa, Governors Meet Ahead of Crucial Gathering

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced a last-minute change in the venue for its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, now scheduled to take place at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2025. The meeting was initially set to be held at the party’s national secretariat at 40 Blantyre Street, Wuse II, Abuja.

APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka disclosed the change in a statement issued on Wednesday, citing logistical reasons for the relocation. “The All Progressives Congress APC announces that the meeting of the Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) scheduled to be held on Thursday, 24th July, 2025, will now take place at the Presidential Villa, Abuja,” the statement read.

The announcement comes as APC governors convened a closed-door meeting on Wednesday at the Imo State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja, hosted by Governor Hope Uzodimma, Chairman of the All Progressive Governors Forum. Governors in attendance included Babagana Zulum (Borno), Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), Monday Okpebholo (Edo), Bassey Otu (Cross River), Nasir Idris (Kebbi), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara), Usman Ododo (Kogi), and Senator Uba Sani (Kaduna).

While the agenda of the governors’ meeting remains undisclosed, sources suggest it may be linked to the selection of a new National Chairman following the resignation of former Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje in June 2025. Ganduje stepped down to address personal health concerns, leaving a leadership gap that could impact the APC’s organization and strategy for upcoming by-elections and gubernatorial polls in Anambra, Ekiti, and Osun states.

The NEC meeting, led by Acting National Chairman Ali Bukar Dalori, is expected to address key issues, including the ratification of schedules for congresses and standing committees, as well as updates on the party’s e-registration process across Nigeria’s 36 states.

As the APC navigates this critical period, the outcomes of the NEC meeting and the governors’ discussions are anticipated to shape the party’s direction ahead of the 2027 elections. Further details on the meetings’ outcomes are expected to emerge following Thursday’s gathering.
