Enyimba FC, a prominent Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) club, is under fire after former Super Eagles striker Brown Ideye publicly criticized the team for failing to pay outstanding match bonuses from the 2024/2025 season. In a scathing post on X, Ideye demanded that the Aba-based club settle the owed bonuses for himself and other players, highlighting the delay since the season concluded in May.
“Because I get money, I should not ask for the one I worked for? Please pay me and the players last season’s match bonuses. @EnyimbaFC, the season ended in May, till now nothing. Next season will start next month,” Ideye wrote on X.
The forward’s allegations add to growing concerns about the club’s financial management. Recently, Ideye revealed that Enyimba paid players a meager N7,000 per day for meals during the last campaign, a claim the former NPFL champions have yet to address or refute.
As the new NPFL season approaches, the unresolved payment issues have sparked discussions among fans and stakeholders about player welfare and financial transparency in Nigerian football. Enyimba FC has not issued an official response to Ideye’s latest claims at the time of this report.
Calls for accountability continue to mount as the club prepares for the upcoming season, with pressure on Enyimba’s management to address the allegations and ensure timely payments to its players.
